Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Webster County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Webster County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server may record basic technical details about that visit:

  • Page-view dates, times, and duration
  • Device type and operating system
  • Internet Protocol address
  • Referring website, when supplied
  • Browser name and version
  • Pages opened during the visit

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how visitors move through the site. Analytics providers combine this traffic data to show which pages are used and where visits end. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
  • Keeping pages available and responsive
  • Routing a search request to the selected provider
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Webster County Criminal History neither maintains nor sells a database of personal criminal records. It publishes routing information for records held by the Webster County sheriff and courts, the Kentucky State Police repository, and the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party records or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information entered there. Review the applicable provider policy before submitting a query because those practices are outside this site's control.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Kentucky agencies, court portals, legal-aid resources, sheriff pages, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed only to limited service categories or when the law requires it:

  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
  • Analytics providers measuring site performance
  • Search partners processing a submitted query
  • Advertising networks serving content on the pages

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so an absolute promise against unauthorized access or a breach cannot be made.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information known to have been supplied by a minor will be deleted.

Your Data Rights

Rights vary by residence and the facts of a request. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs requests to public agencies, while KRS 17.150 limits general inspection of centralized criminal histories. For visitor data held by this private site, available requests may include:

  • Opting out of certain processing
  • Requesting deletion of eligible data
  • Seeking correction of inaccurate information
  • Asking what personal data is held

Updates to This Policy
